Ce mois-ci nous allons nous pencher sur les grandes prêtresses de la soul music : Roberta Flack, Tammi Terrell, Minnie Riperton, Syreeta, entre autres… On survolera aussi la nouvelle génération en commençant celle qui a inspiré toute les autres c’est à dire Erykah Badu : Lady Wray, Cleo Soul, Yazmine Lacey…

On commence par la divine de toutes les divas, Aretha Franklin et ce sublime inédit tiré de l’anthologie 4CD sorti l’an dernier. You light up my life qui est une définition de ce qu’est la soul music : une voix qui te prend aux tripes, qui te retourne, qui te transperce, une mise en abîme du sentiment amoureux qu’il soit échec, qu’il représente l’amour divin, l’amour passé, l’amour lointain, l’amour intense, une orchestration grandiloquente ou parfois plus simple mais toute aussi déchirante.
