En 1986, Bertrand Tavernier signe Round Midnight, un film hommage à l’âge d’or du jazz des années 1950 et à ses figures solitaires, égarées, lumineuses malgré la nuit. C’est une plongée dans l’intimité du jazz, entre clubs enfumés et cœurs fatigués, où chaque note pèse son silence. Mais il existe un autre versant de ce voyage musical : The Other Side of Round Midnight. Ce disque réunit d’autres prises et improvisations captées lors des sessions, où la spontanéité prend le devant.
